Motaz Shaher, MD, FACC, FASE
Dr. Shaher earned his medical degree from Damascus University in Damascus, Syria, in 1996. He completed an internal medicine residency at St. Luke's Hospital/St. Louis University in 2001, and he completed a cardiovascular fellowship at the University of Louisville Hospital in 2004, where he was also a chief cardiology fellow. He completed additional training in cardiac MRI at Wake Forest and Duke universities and in cardiac CT at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Mich.
Dr. Shaher is a founding member of the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, and he is a member of the Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Imaging, the American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Echocardiography, the American Board of Medical Specialties and the American Heart Association. In 2009, he was named Teacher of the Year by the University of Louisville's Department of Medicine, and he received the American College of Physician's Excellence in Internal Medicine Award the same year. He was inducted into the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels in 2008.
