Skin Cancer Screenings
Lutheran Health Physicians offers a skin cancer screening clinic each month to evaluate new and existing moles, skin spots or unusual growths. Since there are different types and the signs vary, screenings are an important part of early detection.
If a mole or mark has any of the following features, it should be evaluated.
- The sides are shaped differently (asymmetrical)
- It has an uneven border
- There is more than one color
- It has a diameter wider than an pencil eraser
- It has changed over time
Additional warning signs may include:
- Redness, swelling, bleeding, tenderness, itchiness or other changes on or around a mole or skin spot
- Any sore that doesn’t heal
Skin cancer screenings - like other screenings - can help identify health concerns early, when they are most treatable. Call (260) 969-7121 to schedule a skin cancer screening appointment at 7910 W. Jefferson Blvd., Suite 112. A physician referral is recommended.
