Austin Finklea, D.O., joined the obstetrics/gynecology team at Bluffton Medical Group in August 2015.
Dr. Finklea graduated from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, with a bachelor's degree in zoology and a minor in chemistry in 2007. While at Weber, he worked as a lab instructor for the department of anatomy and physiology.
Before beginning his medical career, Dr. Finklea completed a two-year mission in Helsinki, Finland, for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 2000. He was founder, owner and operator of Sundance Window Cleaning in Layton, Utah, for eight years, and also worked for DF Construction, also in Layton, while going to school.
Dr. Finklea, who is trained to perform robotic and single-site laparoscopy surgeries and advanced minimally invasive surgeries, has special interests in cosmetic vaginal/pelvic surgery, hypertension in pregnancy, hysterosalpingogram (HSG), in-office sonohysterography, surgical and medical management of urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse surgery and management.
Dr. Finklea, who serves as a scout master for the Boy Scouts of American and is an Eagle Scout, is fluent in Finnish. He also volunteers as a congregational leader in his church.
