OB/GYN
Obstetrics and gynecology are the two medical specialties that focus on the reproductive organs of women in both the pregnant and nonpregnant state. An obstetrician is a physician who manages a woman's pregnancy, labor, delivery and cares for her immediately following the birth of her baby. A gynecologist is a physician specially trained to manage the female reproductive system, including the diagnosis and treatment of disorders and diseases. The two specialties are frequently combined to form the medical specialty abbreviated OB/GYN. An OB/GYN is, therefore, a physician who both delivers babies and treats diseases of the female reproductive organs.
